There seem to be a lot of missing pets in my neighborhood lately. I feel so bad for them.

The signs are interesting to read though. Pepper's owners added at the last minute that he wasn't completely devoid of a tail... he just had "almost" no tail. The kitty's owners scribbed in "with mustache" after the fact too. All kittys I see wandering around now are scrutinized for facial hair.

I took Oscar out to see the signs and warned him "See! See what happens when you run off! You will be cold and lonely and scared!" I think it made an impression.

  1. Those addon's look suspiciously similar.

Did the same family lose two pets, or did someone perform the Lost pet poster equivalent of blacking out the models eyes in Cosmo or http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/39186000/jpg/_39186898_deface_story_ap.jpg

  2. No... I don't think so.. there are lots and lots of posters and they all have the same add-ons... someone would have had to walk around with a marker all day writing them in.

  3. Oh that is my worst fear. Thats why we got the microchip put into our pug- it was no bigger than a grain of rice and I did research and I couldn't find any reports of any health problems as a result of the chip. So now he is ready to go- and if you move, you just contact the national database with your new address!

  4. There's a whole book dedicated to lost and found pet posters. I got it from the library once. It's interesting and often cute, but so darn sad.

  7. We just got an email today from someone in our neighborhood. She'd made up signs like these because their pug ran away today. On the hottest day of the year.

I've never met the family or the dog, but I can't get them out of my mind. I sure hope he found his way out of the heat and back home.

  8. pepper doesn't sound in too good of shape:

has a tumour, doesn't have a tail, and is afraid of strangers--yet weighs 27 lbs?

    poor thing!
