This morning we went to Barktoberfest and participated in the charity walk. Sarah and crew were there as well as Tina and Lauren (Tina is taking the picture).

Oscar went over his goal and raised $210 for Lollipop Farm! Thank you so much to everyone who sponsored him... I will email out his special picture soon.

I took lots of other pictures of us at the walk, which are on My Gallery.

We came home today to find this mess in our bathroom. Although Oscar and Stewie pointed paws at each other... we are pretty sure this is Stewie's handiwork. It was only a matter of time.

Two recent vintage acquisitions. I finally got the Betty Crocker Cookbook from my mom and I got this little plastic deer from my grandma.

I can feel a baby fawn collection urge coming on.

Sometimes you need a chocolate mushroom to perk up your day. This one was acquired from the chocolate counter at Arya Tea... another must visit for Rochestarians.

Stewie has been with us for four months now and has become accustomed to having his picture taken often. He has become quite the poser actually. I should have known he would fit right in when I took this cell phone picture of him when we first found him at the shelter and he smiled for the camera.

Mr. Photogenic is featured again today on 1000 Words. Oscar is somewhat bitter about this.

This is one of Oscar's birthday presents... a doggy toggle coat. We got it for him to wear at Barktober Fest.

Oscar is so close to his goal of $200 for the Barktober Fest walk. If you would like to sponsor Oscar, here is his page.

And then if you would like a special picture of him from Barktober Fest send me your email address at ljcmail(at) and I will be sure to sent you one!

Chuck and Oscar had their birthdays on the 21st... but it was a busy week so we didn't celebrate until today. Happy Birthday guys!

A few birthday pictures are on My Gallery.

It is finished! The patio that we began two years ago is finally done! We just have to clean the concrete we smudged on the stones and water seal it... but essentially it is done. We completed the last two squares today. I have taken some pictures along the way and posted them to My Project Gallery. I haven't added captions yet, but you can see us slaving away and get the gist of things. (like the suffering)

I never thought I would own a pair of Crocs and then I saw these Mary Jane versions. Now I understand the popularity... they are so comfy and light.

It is almost fall and Rochester area ice cream shops are now offering pumpkin frozen custard. It is something to look forward to all year long.

However, I decided I cannot be at the mercy of the seasons when it comes to ice cream and found a recipe so I can make my own pumpkin ice cream at home.

This could be a bad thing.

I guess it shouldn't come as any surprise to me that our pets are weird. But honestly... can't they just sit on the couch like other cats and dogs?

Tuesday, September 19, 2006

I was wandering around CVS when I noticed a display stand of Big Ox Oxygen canned oxygen. It came in two "flavors"... Mountain Mint and Tropical Breeze.

Apparently it can help you keep up your energy partying all night or give you a boost when you are climbing Mount Everest. All this by... "Restoring higher oxygen levels in the blood can promote an increase in energy and alertness so you can work harder, play longer and perform better."

I have to say I was intrigued but at $20 a can I passed. I see online it is one for $15 or two for $25. Still not sure. Could you get addicted to the extra energy and alertness? I could also see a tragic incident with a can full of pure oxygen, a match, a spark or lighter.... yikes.

Aaron and I are walking again this year with Oscar at Lollipop Farm's Barktober Fest.

Please consider sponsoring Oscar. Proceeds go to the Humane Society. Oscar would like to break last year's goal of $100 and he vows to walk extra good!

If you sponsor Oscar and would like a special picture of him from the walk emailed to you, email me at ljcmail(at) and I will email you one after the walk!

Oscar's sponsor page is here.

We mostly worked on the patio today but we took a couple hours to walk Oscar around the Artwalk Alive on University Ave. Oscar appreciated the art on the ground... right where he can see it.

I uploaded pictures to My Gallery of our afternoon.

Today we went to the Finger Lakes Fiber Arts Festival. We pet sheep, llamas and alpacas. I resisted buying skeins and skeins of yarn.

Afterwards we drove to Naples for grapes, grape pie and grape juice.

I took lots of pictures and uploaded them to My Gallery.

And the skull fashion obsession continues. I got a pair of skull Vans in Toronto, and recently acquired a skull scarf and skull shirt. I don't wear them all at once so as to not look too scary.

Anyone who reads this blog knows I am a Wegmans fanatic. Enough so that I even joined the Wegmans fanatic group on Flickr.

Now Aaron has moved from working at one of the stores to corporate Wegs. He is one of their newest marketing coordinators. Yahoo!

I can never set foot in Tops again.

For all you Rochestarians, there is a new store near the corner of University and Atlantic, Urban Essentialz. I stopped there last thursday to check it out. They have some cool stuff. I am so happy to see new business in the neighborhood.

I saw this purse when I was there and thought "I could make that", but when I started thinking about hunting down buttons that were all the same size and style I just bought the purse. Besides... it is supporting local businesses!

Toronto was crawling with Smart Cars . They are so cute we couldn't help pointing and shouting "Look, look!" everytime one rolled by. Aaron sat in one and he actually fit! Note the difference when Aaron stands next to one as opposed to when I stand next to one. It's like the Ames Room that gives the optical illusion that you are a giant when you stand at one end.

I hope we get them in the US soon. I am so happy to see the car companies putting out little cars like the Honda Fit.

We drank a lot of Starbucks while we were at the Film Festival. You need caffine to keep you upright standing in movie lines all day.

During this time I became enamoured with their Maple Macchiato. But guess what... they only have it in Canada! What am I going to do?!

Not so live from the festival because we got back really late

On our last day of the festival we saw "Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker"... which actually turned out to be a Sprockets film.... more of a kids movie but still action packed. Especially for Aaron who sat next to three little boys who were huge fans, read all the books and kept him informed throughout the whole movie.

Our last movie was "The Pleasure of Your Company" directed by Michael Ian Black. As you can see from my very dark, fuzzy picture... it starred Jason Biggs. This was one of the most entertaining question and answer sessions, as Michael Ian Black is very funny.

As for celebrity spotting... out and about we saw Christina Ricci, Catherine O'Hara, Giovanni Ribisi, Scott Caan and Zach Braff. We were pretty excited to see Zach Braff.

All in all we had a great time... ate lots of crepes, did some shopping and of course I took pictures... here they are on My Gallery.

Live from the Festival

Today we went to see "Penelope". It was a wonderful, wonderful movie... I highly recommend it. Christina Ricci and the rest of the cast were there.

We also saw Will Ferrell in the lobby of the Four Seasons. He looked great all dressed up in a suit. His hair was super curly.

Live from the Toronto Film Festival

This evening we went to see "Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Show". It was hilarious and we got to see Vince. He is very tall.

We also went to see "Borat:Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan"... I am quite certain it will be strangest movie we see here at the Festival.

Don't forget to go look at A Thousand Words today!

I blogged about making flipbooks with video stills.

Stewie made his debut in this post. I am sure Oscar will be sour about that.

Wednesday, September 6, 2006

I am very excited, because today at work we launched a blog called A Thousand Words.

I think some of you will recognize Tina as the first blogger. This is a corporate blog that will be written by employees like Tina and I, who enjoy what we do and have ideas, tips and stories to share about pictures.

It's so cool that I get to work with many things I enjoy... pictures, stories and blogging... in my job.

I have heard some of the posts my co-workers are planning and I can tell you there is some good stuff coming up.

So take a look and leave a comment.

Stay tuned because tomorrow I am posting!

This weekend we are going to the Toronto Film Festival. It will be our sixth year.

Getting reserved tickets is a long complicated affair. Despite hurricane Ernesto's best attempt at keeping FedEx from getting the out of town ordering package to me we made our selections and this year we are seeing...

Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Show: 30 Days & 30 Nights-Hollywood to the Heartland, Penelope, The Pleasure of Your Company and Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker. We also have one other movie we have to pick when we get there. Who knows what we might end up with.

Monday, September 4, 2006

This labor day was spent with family, and that family includes our pooches. Oscar got to hang out with his cousin Wally. I think they wear each other out... they were both pooped by the end of the weekend.

Sunday, September 3, 2006

This is Aaron's grandma's kitty. She is twenty some pounds... I couldn't get a shot other than this blurry one that really shows the rotundness of this kitty. Most of the pictures were of her behind a curtain... she didn't care for Oscar much. His grandma says she arrived this big and is now on diet kitty food. Poor tubby kitty.

Saturday, September 2, 2006

Today was wedding number three... Aaron's uncle. The ceremony was in a church with the coolest stained glass windows. I kept thinking what nice quilt patterns they would make.

Friday, September 1, 2006

I like to keep tabs on all the ice cream opportunities in Rochester and I am pleased to report there is now a Ben & Jerry's on Pittsford Main Street.
