How to reuse a broken flower pot as a planter. Step one: foolishly leave your huge terra cotta flower pot out over winter to freeze and lamely find it cracked in half come spring.
I had a terracotta pot split in half down the middle and put it in the garden sideways because I read somewhere that it would be a good shelter/cave for frogs. I have actually spotted a few in there over the years.

Smash it into smaller pieces and you can make some really useful potsherds.
