Sweet Tea

Aaron and I love sweet tea, but buying it by the bottle was getting pricey so I decided I would just make our own.

I thought I would try these Cold Brew tea bags. They are extra big to make an entire picther and you can use just cold water.

After adding some simple syrup (sugar disolved in boiling water) it made a ptretty tasty pitcher of sweet tea.

  1. It's so amusing to see this, as in Canada (as I'm sure you know with your travels to the Film Festival) you can get "sweet tea" -- called iced tea here -- anywhere. In restaurants, as a powder in the store, big, small bottles etc.

I remember traveling with my parents when I was little to Ohio, and ordering iced tea at a restaurant. Imagine our surprise when a glass of ice water with a tea bag on the side arrived!

  3. I usually just make a pot of tea (bags & herbs boiled in teapot on stove), then pour it into a pitcher w/ a bit o' sugar, add ice & cold water and it's ready a little later. Makes the house smell good, too.

  4. A southern thing to do that you would probably like is to add a little vanilla.

  5. We've been using Cold Brew since it came out! So nice and easy, you don't have to think about it. Out here in southern CA, we don't do the sweet tea thing. I like mine totally plain. We did go back to GA a few years ago and were able to experience sweet tea. The hubby loved it. I thought my teeth would rot out before I finished the first glass - way too sweet.

  8. The Angry Chicken blog taught me that you can use cold water with any teabag if you stick it in the fridge and give it a little time! I had no idea!
