Bar Camp ROC & Prezi

Today Aprille and I went to BarCamp Rochester at RIT. BarCamp is a cool "unconference" for geeks, where anyone can speak. You just show up, write your topic down on a sheet of paper, then claim a spot in one of the room and time slots they have posted.

BarCamp is a great opportunity to speak on a topic you feel passionate about, get some speaking time under your belt and learn about some really interesting subjects others want to share.

Aprille gave a great presentation on Storytelling that heals - digital style.

I was planning on going to BarCamp Roc to support Aprille and lurk around at any talks that caught my eye. At the last minute however I decided to present on something that had been knocking around my brain for awhile. It was a "why not?" moment.

I give credit to Aprille for turning me on to the presentation tool Prezi. It's easy to use and creates a really engaging presentation that goes beyond the average slideshow. I spent a lot of time experimenting with my presentation and tweaking it.

I ended up creating a short prezi on Social Product Development. Innovation & Crowdsourcing briefly covers how handy social media is for listening to your customers to give them a product they want... but then asks the question... is that the best approach? Check it out and let me know what you think!

BlogPaws

I was invited to speak at BlogPaws, a pet blogger conference. As anyone that reads my blog knows, I love blogging about my pets, so I was excited to go. Really I was supposed to be talking about Kodak, but I took the opportunity to share as many photos of Oscar and Stewie that I could.

Check it out, they are models for these Top Ten Tips for Taking Great Pet Photos!

I loved seeing all the pets that came to the conference. This pug greeted guests from a reclined position all day. Most laid back pug ever.

And look at this fella. He was rescued two years ago. What a big baby!

The conference was great - good information and a lot of passionate pet lovers!

Matchy matchy

Today I was in New York to speak on a Media Relations Summit panel about corporate blogging with Debbie Weil and the Real Network blogger, Lacy Kemp. The panel went great but what I really want to focus on here is that WE DID NOT PLAN OUR OUTFITS. What are the chances we all have sky blue on? Sweet.

I'm in San Francisco for another conference. It's been rough though. I went from getting on the plane thinking "Hmmm, I feel off" to getting off the plane thinking "OMG, I'm gonna die." I managed to hold out until my session where I whispered my presentation into the microphone. It went well though and everyone was great. Even the hotel staff offered to send chicken soup up to my room. How nice.

Not even Jamba Juice with an immunity boost could help. Blah.

That's me on stage (on the right) at BlogHer... answering questions about 1000 Words Blog from Google's Karen Wickre.

It was nerve wracking.... but exciting. I love coming to BlogHer. So much energy and enthusiasm. Makes you want to go out and do it all.

I am here at BlogWorld in Vegas. It's all about blogs here.

My first panel with Debbie Weil..."Corproate & CEO Blogging" was a lot of fun.

My second panel "PR Do's and Don't's". I look terrified in this picture, but it actually went quite well.

Am contemplating some of the t-shirts they have on sale here... "Geekfantastic" or "You'd blog too if it happened to you"

I am leaving for Las Vegas today because I am speaking on two panels at BlogWorld. Scroll down this page to the "C's" and there I am!

If you happen to be at BlogWorld you can find me at Corproate & CEO Blogging and PR Do's and Don'ts. It should be fun and Tina is going to Vegas too, to visit her brother. Watch out... Jenina is in town!
