We got 14 inches of snow!

After all the anticipation of the big storm it finally hit this afternoon and it came on strong.

I skittered out of work early... only to face a snow covered car...

and snow covered streets.

It was a winter wonderland by the time I got home. When the weather is like this you have to embrace the best parts.

Like making cookies.

And chicken pot pie by the fire.

I made the chicken pot pie this time with pie crust on the bottom and phyllo dough on top. Yum. Also, I made so much pot pie filler I was able to freeze it for later.

Valentine's Tees

There are some cute Valentine's t-shirts at Target. Two of them managed to come home with me.

Scarves

I'm on a scarf kick. I thought this one had animals on it but it turned out it was only pigs. Still cute.

I got this one at Fahsye. They have lots to choose from there. I think I need scarf tying lessons however.

Butterfly Garden

While Aaron's mom was visiting we took her to the butterfly gardens at Strong Museum. For 20 minutes it felt like we were in a tropical local. There were lots of butterflies and also other little critters here and there.

This one sat on my hand and didn't want to leave.

These finches were what inspired us to get finches at home.

On our way out we posed for a few pictures.... like with the Berenstain Bears.

Pet of the Week

Dottie is stressed at the shelter. Is there anyone that can give this girl a break in their home to foster until we can find her a forever home? Dottie is a sweet, affectionate girl who gives kisses and likes to cuddle. She also enjoys going for walks and romping in the snow. This girl was with us in August with her brother. She was adopted first and it took a long time to find the right home for her brother. Unfortunately for Dottie, she didn’t get into a good situation and ended up living in the basement. This girl deserves better than that. You can tell that no time was spent with her but deep down she is still a great dog. She was neglected to say the least. We will work hard to get her exercised, learning some commands, and to play like a young dog should. Won’t you give this pretty gal a chance, you will fall in love and she will give you her unconditional love in return. Please come to meet her at 184 Verona Street. Mouse #18880242 Meet Mouse! She's a 5 month old Shetland Sheepdog mix. She's very shy at first and sensitive but, once she is comfortable, she is very energetic and playful with lots of personality. She needs to take her time getting to know new people but with patience and training, she's going to grow up to be a sweet, loving girl. Mouse will do best in a home where any children are older. She'd also benefit from the company of an older, more confident dog. Baked Meatballs for Super Bowl parties

I don't know how I went to parties before Pinterest. A week before the Super Bowl, Aaron was inspecting my "Snack Noms" board on pinterest and ended up selecting these Meatball Bubble Bisquits. I just called them baked cheese meatballs. For me, the Super Bowl is all about the snacks and commercials with cute animals in them.

They were really easy to make with the help of Pillsbury bisquit dough and Wegman's frozen meatballs. They turned out really good, especially dipped in pizza sauce! Perfect for a Super Bowl party!
