This is going to be thriftin' week at ljcfyi. Here some more finds of my mom's. She got me a Pyrex Cinderella Round Bake Set and a butter dish in Butterfly Gold.

If you like Pyrex (and perhaps have toured the Corning Museum with one eye out for it like I did) then you will love this site that lists all the patterns of Pyrex cooking and serving ware.

  5. OMG! I'm not the only one! I found the Cinderella mixing bowl set, the Cinderalla round bake dish set and the refigerator dish set in Spring Blossom Green at a local thrift store and couldn't resist!

  8. And don't forget, dear Jenny, that there are those evil Japanese books all about Pyrex and Anchor Hocking and Glasbake, etc.! Woohoo! Long live Pyrex!

  9. Oh my... I still have two of my pyrex bowls in that same pattern (although after 30 years of many x weekly use, it's pretty well faded)
Didn't like it much 30 years ago, but that set is, by far, the shower gift which got the most use (and like the energizer bunny, it just keeps on going!)
    Butterfly Gold. who knew?

  10. Butterfly Gold is nice, but some of the Pyrex colours give me the chills when I think about my childhood surrounded by Avocado & Harvest Gold. I guess for some people, if you weren't there for it the first time, it seems cool, right?

  11. Lovely!
I've just started picking up Pyrex in the blue snowflake pattern. If you're ever looking for a specific piece, let me know. I hit 10-20 garage sales weekly here in the Rochacha and see Pyrex all the time....:)

  12. i have that "Cinderella baking dish". So that's what it is for?! I guess i'm gonna have to try it out and bake a cake in it. I took it from my mother years ago. My brother and i use to use it as a "greedy" bowl (large bowl for cereal or ice cream).

  13. Thanks for the link! I have a Daisy casserole that my mom just told me was a wedding gift to her back in 1971. That stuff really holds up. And now that I've said that, I'm sure I will break it next time I use it.

  14. We inherited the crazy daisy cinderella bake set and a mixing bowl from the boy's mum. They're my favorite kitchen bowls! I'd love to get more...

  15. Oh gosh Jenny, thank you for that wonderful link! I love Pyrex! I always search for it at yard/garage/rummage/thrift sales. I have butterfly gold in the 3 bowl set. my favourite set though, is the roosters/chickens of "Friendship", which my parents got as a wedding present and I have yet to find at a reasonable price to get a set of my own. My Mom found an extra small bowl under a grainary on the farm they bought a couple of years ago... in excellent (bright!) condition.
