Today was Lauren's big one year birthday party. I made her one of my bunny cakes... but what I was really excited about was a candle I got at the Chinese grocery store. A Happy Birthday singing candle! You light it... it shoots sparks into the air while it plays Happy Birthday, then the flower bursts open with six lit candles. Wooowee!

I LOVE this! My daughter is having a 15th birthday in a couple of weeks. I really want those candles. Could you PLEASE write me and tell me where I may buy them? Pretty PULEeeZE! Thank you! Ren

I found a site that sells the candle you bought wholesale to stores. I absolutely love the Engrish description: http://www.alibaba.com/catalog/11595478/Birthday_Candle.html

"no safety or pollution".

I bought one too! When I lit it, all the wicks fused together and the entire thing went up like a bonfire! It melted all over the cake and then, in the final sputtering and smoking, the music kicked in with a few pathetic notes.
Best. Birthday Candle. Ever.

Here's an eBay listing. It says he has 9 available:

(if the link doesn't work, search eBay for "Musical Flower Birthday Candle")

Very cool. I'm going to have to look for one of those for the next birthday cake I make!
