Christmas Trees

Before December is over, here is this year's Christmas tree.

Someday I would like to have a tree in every room. This pinecone and acorn tree is in our bedroom. (please ignore the wallpaper)

I have especially always wanted a kitchen Christmas tree... I finally have room for one.

I have the Martha Stewart Kmart kitchen utensil ornaments.

And I also found mini food glass ornaments. Perfect for a kitchen tree.

Wrapping themes

For my wrapping theme this year I used all tree paper and reused the Oscar & Stewie seed design for Oscar & Stewie's Tree Farm gift labels.

Aaron had a pretty awesome owl theme. Love it!

Night Hockey

There is an Amish farm near my parent's house with a frozen pond where they play hockey. They light the ice with lights on generators and play late into the night. We walked down to take a peek and there was quite a crowd there cheering and having a great time.

You can't help but admire their straight forward life - full of zest.

Pet of the Week

I love a dog that can throw her head back and just laaaaauuuuugh!

Lola #11897825

Lola is a 6-year old Hound mix, who weighs 63 pounds. Her family no longer had time for her, so she was brought to Lollypop Farm to find a family who’s able to shower her with the attention she deserves. Lola enjoys her walks and is good on a leash. She loves to be petted and thinks belly rubs are even better! Since she thrives on attention, Lola would prefer to be the only dog in the household. A home with children over the age of 12 is recommended. This sweetheart is another gem that’s eligible for the Seniors-for-Seniors program, so approved adopters age 60 and older can take her home free of charge. Come out and meet Lola if you’ve been looking for a wonderful hound dog to join your family!

Momma, the cat from last week, is still waiting to be adopted.

Pinterest

I try a lot of social media sites. Some stick (Twitter) and some don't (Plurk). Every once in awhile one comes along that totally fill a need. Right now I am completely obsessed with Pinterest.

My blog is made up mostly of my own content. I don't highlight stuff from others very often. But I find soooo much cool stuff! I can tweet it but the visual aspect of twitter isn't all there. I could post it to Facebook, but only my FB contacts would see it. I have been bookmarking them in my Google Reader and then that is where they stay, for my eyes only. But now with Pinterest, they are all there for sharing. I love the visual impact of the site, you can skim over the thumbnails and feast your eyes on all the goodness.

The idea is you create "boards" into which you "pin" cool stuff you like online. The organizing freak in me just loves dividing things into categories like crafts and recipies.

My boards.

My pins.

I love it! I just love it! I love pinning up things and I love seeing what others have posted. I have a few invites if anyone is interested, just leave me a comment.

NOTE: if you leave a comment wanting an invite and you don't have your email address on your blogger profile you have to email it to me - my email address is on the right side of my blog.

Hugo joins the family

Christmas has come a little early. We just added a new member to our little crew - everyone meet Hugo.

We weren't planning on getting a pug for Christmas. But this year we had a couple pug adoptions fall through, and when a friend of a family had pug puppies and said we could have one we jumped at the chance. Hugo was born on October 15 and was ready to come home with us for Christmas.

Oscar is pretty thrilled to have a mini me. Hugo follows him everywhere. Even Stewie is mildly amused, even letting Hugo pounce on his tail.

Wally feels a little outnumbered.

Aaron getting mauled by Hugo's parents and siblings when we picked him up.

Oscar and Stewie enjoying their last day in a calm quiet house.

Pet of the Week

I would call her "Smudge".

Momma #11767344

Momma is a 2-year-old female cat, who is all white with a dash of gray on the top of her head and wonderful yellow eyes. She was found with her four kittens in October, and they were all brought to Lollypop Farm for a second chance. The kittens have all been adopted, now Momma is hoping to find her own forever home! This very sweet and loving cat is a quiet girl who loves to have her head scratched. Her gentle kneading shows how much she loves the attention.

Momma is hoping to find a Home for the Holidays. She is one of our Featured Felines: Purrfectly Patient. Now through Sunday (12/26), adopt her for just $25, or any other cat, 5 months or older, who has been here 1-month or longer.

Cayous the dog from last week, was adopted!.

Handmade holiday gifts - upcycled silverware plant stakes & seeds

I think enough people have received this year's handmade holiday gift for me to reveal here.

Hand stamped upcycled vintage silverware plant stakes & herb seed packets.

I designed the Oscar & Stewie Seed Company seed packets, printed them out and filled them with seeds I ordered online.

I also ordered these metal letter punches.

My mom and I have been collecting old silverware from yard sales and auction all year. Aaron flattened them out and we stamped them with the letter punches.

I got little letters and big ones. I think I like the little letters better. They stamped deeper.

Each packet of seeds got a corresponding plant stake.

I think this is one of the best handmade holiday gifts we have made yet!

ljc's holiday music

I take my holiday music collection very seriously. I have over 170 holiday songs on my iPod - many burned from CD's I had.

I was thrilled this year that Target shared 14 songs in a collection called The Christmas Gig. They have one of my favorite bands - Guster and a new favorite Bishop Allen.

I have a lot of holiday music but this is my list of favorites - you can find the playlist on iTunes as ljc's xmas favs.

My friend Julia has a great list too.

Teeny handmade Christmas tree decorations

We got my grandma a little living Christmas tree for the holidays this year. After we put the tiny bulbs and lights on it something was still missing, so I made her a felt star and snowball pom pom garland for it.

I can't wait til we get home and I can add them! I think they will be just the thing.

Christmas Brunch

Today we had a Christmas brunch with the Clarks & Goradias.

I fired up all the Christmas pyramids.

The girls had fun tearing open their gifts.

It's hard work.

Peek.

Stewie made a new friend.

Cookie holiday party

This evening we had a cookies & cocktails holiday party.

Dress was casual, moustaches fancy.

No cookie was safe.

There is nothing like catching up with friends at the holidays. And eating cookies.
