Staying cool in ROC: Frozen treats

The temperatures are soaring in Rochester but there are a lot of new cold treats to cool us down.

Recently Hedonist Chocolate opened a store front on South Ave. This summer, a couple of doors down they opened an ice cream shop! The flavors remind me a lot of what they had at Jeni's Ice Cream in Columbus. Salted Caramel, Whiskey Fig with Goat Cheese, and (hold onto your hat) Bacon Peanut Caramel! I got the Sesame Chocolate... but really wanted to eat all of Aaron's Salted Caramel.

They are using ingredients from local sources like Pittsford Farms Dairy and Hurd Orchards... love that! There are also tasty sauces, crunchy toppings available and the waffle cones are handmade... so good!

Another ice cream treat in Rochester, that I have yet to try, is Eat Me Ice Cream. You can either try their ice cream sandwiches at a Farmers Market like South Wedge on Thursday nights. Some of the ice cream sandwiches areconcord grape ice cream with a graham cracker cookie and coconut vanilla ice cream rolled in toasted almonds with a chocolate coconut cookie.

And the coolest thing is... through Small World Food Collective they offered an ice cream CSA! They are all sold out but if you were able to sign up, you got a pint of a different flavor of ice cream every week for 12 weeks.

I will be tracking down one of these ice cream sandwiches soon.
