Season bucket lists

At the beginning of summer my friend Patricia told me she had started a summer bucket list. I thought that was a great idea. I love lists! I put ours on the foyer chalkboard so I could chart my progress everyday.

The result? I addd a few photos of our successes as we went along. We picked a LOT of fruit! Add in peaches as a bonus! I was a little bummed we didn't get out camping this supper but hey... we got a boat! Can't really complain about our summer!

It went so well I started a fall bucket list.

2014 To Do List

Instead of New Year's Resolutions, I like to set myself up for success and just pick 10 things I would like to do or try in the coming year. If I don't get to them all, that's okay. They roll over to the next year.

2013 To Do List

(I did six of my ten to-do's and a few I want to expand on.)

1. bake bread - done 11/26 - I had to bake the bread for turkey stuffing but that counts! Next I would like to make this peasant bread

2. make a quilt

3. grow a cutting garden - done 9/12, it was pretty weak though... need to beef it up this year

4. glass etching - done 12/22 - love this! I'll be doing more of this in the future!

5. coffee brewing classes - done 5/23, it was an esspresso class, would like take a home brewing class

6. bake the perfect whoopie pie

7. start an etsy shop

8. make paper

9. cross country skiing - done 2/18, more of this in 2014! We have the snow for it.

10. cake decorating class - done 1/31, I would like to take the second class

2014 To Do List

(These first four are things I didn't get to last year.)

1. make a quilt - I've seen a few places that offer classes!

2. bake the perfect whoopie pie

3. start an etsy shop - well I have it, I just haven't put anything in it!

4. make paper

Some new ones!

5. read 10 classics - (see below) I either don't remember reading some of these or somehow missed them in school. Reviewing the books that I have read, it's obvious I left British Romanticsm dominate my reading choices. all Jane Austen, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights... etc. Looking forward to picking these books up - real books, not ebooks. Like Penguin Classics. I came up with this list by looking up top novels/classics of all time and pulling from multiple sources.

6. ceramics class - I want to learn to use the wheel at Genesee Center for Arts and Education

7. grow things in my greenhouse - I'm going to try some spinach this winter. I'll also be starting my seedlings in there for the veggie garden this spring.

8. learn flower arranging - hopefully I'll have more flowers from my cutting garden this year to work with.

9. plant some berry bushes - I'm thinking raspberry back by our garage.

10. try dutch oven cooking when we go camping - Dutch oven history and care, Dutch oven cooking. Strawberry rhubarb cobbler! Dutch oven stuffed peppers! Hoo hoo!
