Pony Kisses

Aaron and I were at the mall and I start noticing random animals scattered about.

Finally we realized that Lollypop Farm was having a telethon at the mall.

There was a mini pony there that you could pay $1 for a kiss. I bought two.

Ljc at the Oscars

Thanks to a commenter, Karlene, I got a heads up that I can be spotted in the Oscar's section of this week's People magazine!

On page 52... the first page of the spread... a little above Ben Kingsley's head...

There I am, busily clicking away, my face half obscured by the camera. How cool is that?!

New Pyrex

I got a lot of Pyrex for Christmas that i need to take pictures of once we have a nice sunny day. I do have a few pieces that I got before Christmas that I haven't posted yet.

This is one of the coolest Pyrex I have seen. It's a Pyrex Bake A Round. You place the dough inside the glass and the bread bakes inside it.

These dishes say Pyrex France on them. I think they are for baking bread too. That's just my guess.

I love this one. A Pyrex cheese keeper. It has a wood base and handle. Looks like something Wallace and Gromit would use.

Here is an unusual Pyrex casserole. the lid is the entire white section, like a deep dish. I would love to know why it's like that. Maybe so you can eat out of the top?

I have a few more uploaded on my Pyrex flickr set.

Pet of the Week

Mason looks like he's about sixty pounds of lovin'.

Mason - #1084268

Mason is a 6-year-old Mastiff/Lab mix who is housetrained and neutered and all ready for a new home! Mason is a handsome guy who would be happiest in a home without young children. He needs to meet any dogs in the household before going home with an adopter, just to make sure everyone will get along OK. Obedience classes would be a good idea for Mason; they would help him with socialization with other dogs. Mason is eligible for the Seniors-for-Seniors program, so approved adopters age 60 and over can adopt him free of charge! - Lollipop Farm

Also... Sprouty and Sterling were adopted!

Le Sport Sac

While I was waiting for my plane in the LA airport, i wandered into the duty free shop. Besides the usual perfume and alcohol, they were selling Le Sport Sac bags! There was the cutest line - brown bags with a pattern of owls and foxes.

But since I wasn't on an international flight I wasn't allowed to purchase anything there.

When i got home I looked at the Le Sport Sac website, but that pattern is long gone. I did however, find this pattern of dressed up bunnies. It's from the artist in residence, Fifi Lapin.

A rabbit with a great sense of style. Very cool.

Jamba crisis

I walked around Beverly Hills this morning looking for the two nearby Jamba Juices and all I saw was this Beverly Hills chihuahua. Turns out both Jambas have closed. I was so bummed.

Many hours later when I had my layover at Chicago airport, I was grabbing Garretts popcorn for Tina, and right around the corner was a brand spanky new JAMBA JUICE! I nearly ran inside. Flying through O'Hare is going to be even better now!

Oscar's Red Carpet Bleacher experience

For one of my most interesting assignments for my job, I got to go Hollywood to sit in the Oscar's red carpet bleachers.

I was what is referred to as a "bleacher fan".

There were so many stars, I was constantly snapping away with my camera.

I was able to zoom in really close. Tina this one is for you.

I did get to step onto the red carpet for a moment, when we were herded across the street to the El Capitan to watch the awards ceremony on the big screen.

What an amazing experience! You can read and see more pictures over on 1000Words blog.

Giada at home

Now that Giada has a baby girl, she hasn't been doing her show, Giada's Weekend Getaway. I have had to make due with Giada at Home. Not quite as exciting, and I don't think I can go and visit her kitchen like I was able to visit the restaurants she tried on Weekend Getaway. Ah well, at least we get to see her husband Todd running around town picking up supplies.

new measuring spoons

Aaron broke two of my measuring spoons so he got me these super cute ones to make up for it. I love them! Some of them have little birds on them. Almost to cute to use.

GEH Oscars Party

Aaron is the chair of the George Eastman House's Young Professional's Oscar's committee. From what I have heard they have an amazing Oscar's party planned this year.

Aaron has been doing interviews about the party. He was on WBER and will be on Channel 13 too.

There will movie themed food - Indian for Slumdog and a milkshake bar for Milk! Nik and the Nice Guys will be playing so people can dance.

Also there are lots of chances to win prizes! One of the coolest prizes is the use of a Smart Car for a weekend!

There is a silent auction, which for the first time is also available online.

It's not too late to buy tickets and there will even be tickets available at the door.

I am going to be in LA for the Oscars (I have a ticket to the red carpet bleachers) but I am still a little bummed to miss the GEH Oscar's party!

Coraline

Aaron and I saw Coraline on Valentine's Day and it was so good. Of course button eyes creep me out a little bit now, but I had to try the Button Your Eyes app on the movie website.

I loved the cat and I was so impressed that even the interior of the family VW bug was replicated exactly.

I can't even imagine how cool it was to be one of the 50 bloggers to get a Coraline box in the mail!

Best Hairclip

My hair is getting longer and when it is having an off day I like to wear it up in a twist. The last time my hair was long, I used a butterfly clip to hold it in a twist, but now I am wondering if butterfly clips have gone the way of the scrunchy. (I loved scrunchies! I had them in every color!)

I was really interested in the bandette comb NotMartha blogged about but I haven't been able to find one anywhere.

I did however find this really simple plastic clip. No hinges, no clasps, really basic.

And it works! It works great! Wow you can really see the blond when I twist my hair up.

When I was trying to take a picture, it was only a matter of time before someone came along and had to give it a sniff.

Pet of the Week

Ok, I can hardly stand these two! Two Siamese kitties named Sprouty and Sterling?! How can you not look at them and hear "We are Siamese if you please... we are Siamese if you don't please." Here is the clip in case you don't remember.

They are too cute and I am sure they aren't as scheming as the two kitties in Lady and the tramp who were named Si and Am by the way.

Sprouty & Sterling #7035354 & #7035374

Sprouty and Sterling are 15- and 16-year-old female Siamese mixes who make a great pair! These pretty kitty sisters were brought to Lollypop Farm because their owner passed away and no one else could take them. We would really like these girls to be adopted together, as they are strongly bonded and have spent many years together. Besides being beautiful cats, they have great personalities. Sprouty and Sterling are currently living in a staff office at Lollypop Farm, so if you'd like to meet them, just ask a staff member for help! - Lollypop Farm

Figs & Ginger necklace

Aaron also got me a necklace from Figs & Ginger, my favorite jewelry designer. Unexpectedly matches my t-shirt from Target.

Valentine's Day

We had a special breakfast for Valentine's Day.

Aaron surprised me with a pan to make ebleskiver aka Danish aka filled pancakes.

He made half with cream inside and half with chocolate.

In the evening we went to dinner at The Melting Pot and went to see Coraline.

I think the highlight was when we discovered we got each other the same Valentines card. It's the third time we have done this! Once at Christmas and again on our anniversary.

Valentine's Gifts

Since I was going to see most of my friends today at work I had to have my Valentine's gifties ready to go.

Using my most excellent button maker Aaron got me for Christmas I designed and made these heart themed buttons.

And Aaron helped me make these white chocolate dipped pretzel sticks.

They were weren't very hard to make and are sooo tasty.

I also used the Valentine cards I designed for work as gift tags.

I think everything put together made a cute little surprise.

Rochester Twestival and Kawaii Not

Tonight we went to the Rochester Social Media Meetup and then the Rochester Twestival. It is always great to put faces to the twitter profiles! And the Twestival was for a great cause raising money for charity water.

Twestival had some raffle prized, of which Aaron had his eye on this...

(not this exact kit, it was the closest I could find)

As for myself, I was all eyes for the gift basket with goodies like buttons and a tote from kawaii not.

Aaron and I got this book awhile ago, long before last week when I discovered that author Meghan Murphy lives in Rochester! I didn't realize she had other products until I saw the gift basket. Aaron put a few tickets in for it. Here's hoping!

Work blockers

This is a picture from a couple years ago demonstrating how Stewie makes it hard to get work done. I swear as soon as you sit down in our house an alert goes out that there is a warm lap available.

This was taken last week. Oscar is good at it too.

new blog banner

Finally! A new banner! I thought it was time to finally take down the Christmas banner.

Pet of the Week

Really how can you reisist a dog named George? And those pudding eyes! Done!

George #6969146

George is here at Lollypop Farm after being found as a stray. George, a 2-year-old male pit bull mix, is a very energetic boy and would love an active owner! He is a very friendly dog, but he would benefit from obedience classes, which he must be signed up for before going home with an adopter. George would do best in a home without young children and must meet any dogs already in the home. Come meet George today! - Lollypop Farm

They both forgot their pants!

We finally found a "I forgot my pants" t-shirt for Oscar too. And it was only $2!

They look ridiculous together. Neither of them can remember their pants.

sneaky squirrels

The snow has revealed a scurry of squirrels living under our porch.

Look at their wee little footy prints. Next thing they will be breaking into the house and stealing our TV.

NOTE: I was informed by Annegret that the proper word for a herd of squirrels is SCURRY. How perfect is that? Thanks Annegret!
