Peach Pocket Pie

It is peach season and last week I got a small basket for us to eat. They started to get ripe too quickly so I used them up in some peach pocket pies. Just as tasty as the berry pocket pies.

I was browsing through one of my favorite food blogs when I spotted a post about the Williams Sonoma pocket pie makers. I was excited to see that someone had left a comment pointing to my berry pocket pies post! So cool!

New bird feeder

Aaron got me this bird feeder and I just love it. Not only do I like looking at the birds that come around to snack out of it, but I love the shape and the wood design. Lucky birds.

Desktop Pictures

I got some great photos of flowers at the wedding yesterday.

These dried flowers make a colorful decoration on the ceiling.

I loved this picture so much I made a desktop picture of it to share... just click on the size you want and save it to your computer for your desktop pattern.

Orchard Wedding

I went to the coolest wedding of my friends Beth and Lisa today. The ceremony was very traditional, but the reception was at an orchard in a barn!

It was like a Martha Stewart Wedding - every five steps I was stopping to ooh and ahh.

An old fashioned typewriter so you could type messages to the happy couple!

Photos of them since they were babies!

Candles in jars!

Lemonade and iced tea in jelly jars!

Mismatched china plates!

Corn on the cob and CHICKEN POT PIE! (chicken pot, chicken pot, chicken pot PIIIIIIIIIIIIE)

A quiet moment in the barn.

Birthday Outing

Last week we celebrated Aprille's birthday by going to the South Wedge Farmers Market!

I love granola that this bakery, Small World Bakery, makes - and now they are making kimchee.

My mom said that this kind of kimchee that doesn't have a lot of hot pepper is what they call "water kimchee". Aaron was very interested and got a jar.

I was interested in the brownies that had sesame seeds on. I love sesame seeds so I got one to try. I only got a chance to nibble at it but it was good.

Afterwards we went to the new Napa wood-fire pizzeria they opened by Boulder Coffee and the South Wedge Farmer's Market.

The most delicious thing at Napa? Vanilla bean lemonade! So good! Happy Birthday Week Aprille!

My new favorite greeting cards

I don't come from a big card giving family. We just didn't do greeting cards when I was a kid. We didn't send out Christmas cards either. I do remember my dad getting my mom and I each a Valentines Day card though - I have an awesome one with cuts of meat saying things like "You're Grade A!" and "You're the best, no baloney!" (I have just about every card I have ever recieved by the way)

I am into Christmas cards now... because i make them myself. A lot of thought and work goes into those each year. I have a tough time with other cards though. I just can't find ones that say what I want to in a way that sounds like me. Pair that with a design that I like and it's tough to find the perfect card.

A couple nights ago I was perusing the card aisle when I spied this collection. (MAYBE if you are a person who typically gets a card from me on certain occasions you SHOULDN'T look below!)

I like what they say and even the quirky typeface they use. I like the doodles and layers of design elements.

I like the photos and the colors.

I like the use of kittens and pugs.

They are just so ME. And then I saw who wrote them. TAYLOR SWIFT! Not that I have anything against Taylor Swift - I just never would have guessed.

So there you have it. The cutest darn greeting cards won me over. I bought a stack of them for every occasion for the rest of the year!

Pet of the Week

You may want to Google Cachimba before you go yelling her name out the backdoor - but look at that face! Totally worth it.

Cachimba #11163418

Cachimba, a beautiful 9-year-old Golden Retriever/mix, finds herself at Lollypop Farm because her owners were moving and couldn’t bring her along. Her thick, dense coat will require some care, but the payoff will be an even more beautiful dog when you’re finished. Our volunteer dog walkers tell us she’s very good on a leash, loves her treats, and is an all around great dog! You can take Cachimba home for just $75 during our Bark-to-School Adopt-a-Thon, today through Sunday, August 29th! Cachimba also qualifies for our Seniors-for-Seniors Adoption Program, so if you are 60 or older you can take her home for free. This sweet girl is eager to meet you! Brando, the cat from last week, is still available for adoption.

New cupcake spot - Dollop

There is a new cupcakery in town... Penfield to be specific. I got to try it out with Aprille, her mom and Joel on Saturday. Dollop is located in downtown Penfield. I like the shop's black and pink color scheme.

The cool thing about Dollop is you can choose your cake, your filling, a frosting and a topping. There are lots to choose from.

They dig a little hole out of the cake to add the filling. I want to know who is eating all the little cake plugs that are leftover?

Aprille got a chocolate cupcake with an oreo baked inside. She had it topped with peanut butter frosting and chocolate chips. A work of art!

I got a red velvet with marshmallow fluff filling and cream cheese frosting. It was very good.

Joel got red velvet cake also... but I can't remember what frosting this is. It's very pretty though!

When we stopped by they had just finished a big catering order so they were a little frazzled and there weren't many cake choices left... they were even out of vanilla, so I'll have to go back and try them again.

You can follow Dollop on Twitter and Facebook... I always like that!

Naughty Cat

Last night someone got out. Someone that never goes outside but always wants to go outside. He had us worried sick until he came back soaking wet and meowing at 5am. (Hoo - that screen needs cleaned!)

Now he is lounging around the house like nothing happened. We would love to know where he went and what he did.

We also are suspicous that a certain someone else was the one that actually pushed open the door, but we will never know for sure.

Homerama

Yesterday I went to Homerama with Aprille. I have a feeling that I focus on things other than what they intended... like the houses. I like things like this grey ceiling.

And this stone table Aprille and her mom are sitting at. The base is a wood stump.

And there were succulents growing on top. This was supplied by Oriental Garden Supply.

I love this pebble shower floor!

And another one.

Several of the houses had paver driveways. I would love that... so much greener than an asphalt driveway.

How cool is this? A frame with wire to hang pictures on.

These were little branches with lights on the tips.

And this... a window bench in the kitchen! I love window benches... and to have one in the kitchen?!

Big winner via Martha

I was a big winner on Twitter! I entered the @CraftsDept #MarthaBlogger Sweeps and won this Martha Stewart sewing book!

It will be put to good use!

I also entered the @dailywag #marthablogger sweeps and won a box of goodies for Oscar!

Oscar was beside himself with his good fortune. Aren't the colors nice? Now he can nom nom in style!
