Last weekend when we went to see the Pyrex exhibit we went through the rest of Corning Museum of Glass.
There are some fun displays to look at.
We stood in front of this one for a long time.
They have an exhibit area now with glass works of art. It's a big bright white exhibit area.
We took a few artistic shots ourselves.
As big Pyrex fan and collector, it was practically a requirement for me to visit the Pyrex exhibit at Corning Museum of Glass.
The exhibit featured a timeline of the Pyrex development. It was interesting to see the history accompanied by vintage ads and the products that were featured in them, like this set of Primary Color mixing bowls.
I liked seeing which products were advertised together. And I liked seeing which pieces I have in my own collection. Yup, I have both the Super DeLuxe "UFO" casserole and the Opaque White Casserole featured in this Christmas ad.

I pretty much walked past each case pointing "Got it. Got it. Got it." Really Corning Museum should have called me to access my collection for this exhibit. LOL.
If you can't make it to the exhibit, the museum put up a website that shows many of the Pyrex patterns that were sold.
Along the way I stopped to point out some of my favorites. I look crazy. Crazy Pyrex Lady!
Here are a few things I saw on display that I don't have... a Pyrex roaster.
And the Pyrex children's set. We all have to have goals to work toward.
This was pretty much me after the exhibit. Aaron thought that was hilarious.
I did come home with a Pyrex pie plate. One of the 100 year anniversary releases. Oh and dish towel that makes me chuckle when I see it.
I had been looking forward to seeing the Little Golden Books exhibit at Memorial Art Gallery since I heard there was some of Richard Scarry's work there. He is one of my favorite illustrators.
Several of my friends told me it was a great time to visit because there was also the Infinity Boxes exhibit sprinkled throughout the museum also.
They were right. The Golden Book exhibit was neat to see... the illustrations were so detailed and stylized, but the Infinity Boxes were super cool too.
They were so interactive and fascinating to look inside.

While walking around I had to stop at this piece. Not only is it very cool how you can see the artwork through the little glass sphere, but the large installment is actually made up of different colored spools of thread!
I couldn't resist.
There are some cool things to check out in Kansas. Aaron's sister & bro in law took us to the Cosmosphere. I've always been a little bit of a space/NASA geek so I was pretty excited to check it out.
I was surprised to discover they had artifacts like the Apollo 13 command module Odyssey.

Aaron is a lot taller than the average astronaut!
Last week Aaron and I got a preview ride in the Civil War replica balloon, The Intrepid at Genesee Country Village and Museum.
This historic flight almost didn't happen. The balloon uses helium instead of hydrogen (good thing) as you may or may not know there is a helium shortage. Macys saved the day by donating helium for the balloon. Macys? Yeah! Think about all the balloons in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!
I didn't even know there were balloons in the Civil War. Turns out Abraham Lincoln approved the fleet for spying on the Confederates. The Museum recreated this balloon with all the details like the painting on the balloon and the basket.
Now visitors at the Genesee Country Village and Museum can take rides in The Intrepid.
The balloon can go up to 300 feet. The morning we were there we only went up 50 feet because of the winds but it was still cool.
I want to go back and take the balloon up to 300 feet. I've heard the view is amazing.
What a fun thing to add to your Rochester to-do list.
