Sweeney Todd Halloween Dinner Party

I love themes. Aaron came up with the best theme for our Halloween dinner party. He was Sweeney Todd the barber...

...and I was Mrs. Lovett the baker.

We made chicken pot pie "meat pies" complete with dough fingers.

Our dining room was made into an eerie feasting experience.

In the living room we set up a barber shop/bakery display.

Spooky Black Halloween Pumpkins

I wanted to make fun favor/place holders for my Halloween dinner party. I was inspired by the halloween decor at Wegmans.

I bought a bunch of the tiny sized faux pumpkins. Luckily they were on a it's-almost-Halloween sale.

I gave them all several coats of black paint. I discovered pretty quickly, it's hard to paint something bright orange a solid black.

I quizzed Aaron for spooky Halloweenish words and then cut them out using my Cricut and white vinyl adhesive.

I put one spooky word on each pumpkin.

I will tie a tag on each one with a dinner guests name and sit it at their place at the table.

Then they can take them home for decoration.

Boo!

Whoopie Cushion

Thanks to the whoopie cushion Beth and Lisa got Aaron for his birthday he decided a great Halloween costume would be a giant whoopie cushion. I imagine it will be a fun day at his office.

Halloween names

Our intern Ashley at work made everyone spooky name plates for Halloween! They are so cute and so creative. I like Mary-Irene and Beth's the best.

Pet of the Week

I never thought I would see another kitty that could be dressed up like Stewie... this one is a keeper!

Mommy Kitty #11337041

Mommy Kitty is ready for Halloween! This 5-year-old female cat was found and brought to Lollypop Farm to find a new home. She is super sweet and loves to play with her toy mouse. A little shy at first, Mommy Kitty quickly warms up when given plenty of attention. She loves to be petted, and will even roll over for a belly rub. This gentle soul will make a wonderful companion. I got another app on my phone that makes pictures look old.

Instagram makes photos look retro... and pugs and kittles extra cute.

Not that they need any help with that.

Front yard mushrooms

Aaron and I were working out in the yard when I noticed lots of little mushrooms around a big old tree.

I have no idea what kind they are but they are cute.

Someone on twitter said they look like fairy houses.

The more I looked, the more clusters I found. I love mushrooms!

Apple pocket pies

Someone tipped me off on twitter that Christmas Tree Shoppes was carrying pocket pie molds - apple and pumpkin. Aaron picked one of each up for me.

Today I used the apple one to make apple pocket pies.

I used my standard apple pie recipe for the filling.

They turned out as good as the berry pocket pies. They are especially good warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Torchlight Tour

This evening we went on a torchlight tour of Mt. Hope Cemetary with Aprille. I thought I had my camera in my bag but it wasn't there so all I got were a sad few iPhone pics. :(

It wasn't as spooky as I thought, but it was really cool to be in this amazing historic landmark at night, in darkness with our path lit only by torches.

It was really fascinating to hear the different stories. Now I want to go on one of their tours during the day to learn more. (and I would like to check out one of the Rochester ghost tours too!)

Blue hair

I just got my hair dyed blue. I think it all started with this t-shirt. No wait... it started with the color scheme of Beth and Lisa's wedding... even their getaway car was this shade of blue.

I was due for a refresh of color on my hair awhile ago... started thinking about blue. I just got these earrings in Vegas... blue was on my mind.

Blue... tahdah!

I like it when just a little peeks out.

Stewie scarf

Either Stewie really loves me or it is getting cold in the house. Let's go with the former.

Planting bulbs

When we bought our new house, I had no idea if they had any flower bulbs planted. When spring rolled around turns out not even a single daffodil or tulip came up. I had to wait until fall, but now it's time to plant bulbs. This year I'm concentrating on just daffodils. I always wanted to try one of these bulb planters so I got one along with some bulb fertilizer.

It worked pretty well which was a good thing since we had about 50 bulbs to plant!

Bogey #11186131

Bogey is a 2-year-old male hound mix who weighs 67 pounds. He was originally brought to Lollypop Farm because his owner was moving. This beautiful boy has a brindle coat and a very melodious voice, which he's not afraid to use when he sees something of interest! Bogey has learned to walk quite well on his leash with an Easy Walker harness. He would do best in a home with children over the age of 16 as he's quite a big guy, and should meet any dogs in your home just to be sure that everyone will get along. Bogey and his new family will be required to attend training classes together so Bogey can learn to be a perfect gentleman. The first session for adopters is offered at a discounted rate. Could you be the person Bogey has been so patiently waiting for?

Pumpkin travesty

There was a sad scene when we came home from work today. The monster squirrels in our neighborhood gnawed on Aaron's skull pumpkin. They chewed off all skullys teeth. Aaron is not happy.

Pumpkin Picking

Today we had a our annual pumpkin picking and carving party. It was the perfect chance for Oscar to break out his new banana costume.

Although Oscar was getting a lot of attention in his banana suit we were there to get pumpkins so Aaron got to work hunting through the rows and bins.

After picking pumpkins everyone came back to the house to carve them up.

Aaron found this mishapen pumpkin that was perfect for a jack o'lantern skull.

Then we went with a Star Wars theme and I made an R2D2 pumpkin while Aaron made a Boba Fett pumpkin.
